 NOTICE lS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to section 87(Z) of the Local Government Act 1972 that Jean Carruthers, formerly a member of the Parish Council of Stratfield Saye, has ceased to be a member thereof and that a casual vacancy exists in the office of Councillor for the Parish. lf, within t4 ( excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public Holidays) after the date of the notice, a request for election to fill the said vacancy is made in writing to the RETURNING OFFICER of the BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL, Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire by ten electors for the Parish an election will be held to fill the said vacancy; otherwise the vacancy will be filled by the Parish Council by co-option  Signed.... The Parish of Stratfield Saye is located in North Hampshire, about 10 miles from Reading and from Basingstoke.

The central part of the Parish comprises the hamlet of Stratfield Saye, with West End Green to the west, Fair Oak Green in the south west and Fair Cross in the north. The northern boundary is along the Devil’s Highway, the route of the Roman road from Silchester to London.

To the east is Stratfield Saye House. This was originally built by the Pitt family around 1630. In 1817 it became the home of the Duke of Wellington, gifted to the family by the state following the Battle of Waterloo.

In Stratfield Saye there is the village hall and recreation ground, as well as the local pub, the Iron Duke.

The Parish is within the Bramley ward of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The local ward councillors are Cllr Nick Tomblin, Cllr Simon Mahaffey and Cllr Nick Robinson. 

The Parish is represented at Hampshire County Council by Cllr Rhydian Vaughan.

The Parish also lies within the Parliamentary constituency of North East Hampshire. The MP is Ranil Jayawardena.
